Debbie Vetromile receives 2020 Greenwich Hero Award

2020 Greenwich Hero

Debbie Vetromile

TAG Executive Director

During the pandemic Debbie Vetromile, Executive Director for TAG, and her family members meet every morning at the teen center, with Tag drivers and staff, Boys and Girls Club staff and Neighbor to Neighbor staff and volunteers. She is there with one objective, to pack bags full of groceries and deliver them to families in need.

She does this with a smile while helping load up five vans for the average of 128 families a day, usually 3-4 bags per family. She says "It's hard work but says the rewards are immense." Deb and her family are out there every day, she says "it’s what we do when there’s a need in our community and because we care, we will continue to do this till our neighbors are back to work again."

Bravo, Deb, you truly are a hometown hero!

“This is very important for us to do.”  “There are so many seniors and people with disabilities in this town and they have to get their food some way. If it means us delivering it or taking them places, we will do what we need to do is help.”

- Debra Vetromile, TAG Executive Director

It is a pleasure partnering with you.

Sincere and warm regards,

Margaret Tjimos Goldberg

Executive Director

Neighbor to Neighbor

Neighbor to Neighbor is experiencing a rapidly soaring demand for groceries. They are now providing approximately 600 households with weekly grocery bags of 3 days of food for 3 meals for each member of the household. TAG, the Transportation Association of Greenwich, schedules and drives the grocery deliveries throughout town. Client families in need of assistance are referred by The Greenwich Department of Human Services.

We ask for your generous support

During this health crisis, TAG drivers, vans and volunteers deliver hundreds of bags of groceries daily to home-bound seniors and disabled residents and hot breakfasts to families.

Contributing what you can now helps us sustain our services to seniors, children and disabled residents. Donations are tax-deductible.
